Our family's Lane Rotary Sawmill was built in 1901. Currently the engine that ran it (a 1965 Chevy 327) blew it's engine and is in the process of being changed out. We do have a new engine for it, a White 6 cylinder diesel would should help with it's power and ability to saw good lumber.
This photo shows the saw carriage and the head rig. You will note from the bogie wheel sitting on the boards on the carriage that this machine is being repaired.
This photo shows the Lane Sawmill as viewed from the East Side of the building. You can tell from the conditions of the logs on the Brow (White Pine) that this sawmill has not been run in the last few years.
This photo shows how the sawmill building looks from the West side of the building.
This photo is taken at the tail end of the carriage and is looking up at the head rig.
This photo shows the engine cavity. The old Chevy 327 Engine was just pulled out and will someday house a 6 cylinder diesel engine.
Here is a photo of the new diesel engine that has yet to be installed.
